“You photograph the waves to preserve the memory of their words” (Christiaens)

“oh

great

sea!

you create the one

i sang about in the beginning

oh!, horizon of eyes and flights

of seagulls and blazing suns!

place of passage of the celestial of the ever-flat

fortunate encounter of storms

of salty waves and moons

full that set free

flow away.

and i die

i”

(Barachini)

These are the words that the two photographers used to summarize their work: a series of photographs taken in very distant places. Barachini has been photographing the Tyrrhenian Sea in front of his home in Tuscany for years with large-format cameras, while Christiaens photographs the oceans he encounters while sailing.
