Every morning, at dawn, Guido goes into the forest.
It is his home, his ancestral territory. As he moves among the trees, something inside him seems to fall back into place: his breathing changes, his body slows down. It is as if the forest and its creatures carry a memory older than he is.
Guido fled the city years ago. To him, the city had become noise, a distance from his own nature, self-destruction. His childhood had already been a flight, marked by his father’s mental illness. And yet he carries one luminous memory: the walks he took through the woods with his father. There, his father seemed to find a moment of peace from his own demons. Without knowing it, he was showing Guido a path.
Years later, Guido returns to that same forest. He tries to understand his father through the trees: they too break, fall, bend in the wind, and yet continue to grow. In the woods, he rediscovers a simpler life and a sense of freedom. He meets Victoria. Between them, there is a recognition that comes before words. Together, they slowly build a world of their own, made of trust and courage. The forest becomes the place where a new family takes root. When Rumi is born, everything changes. If Guido once entered the woods to heal his own wounds, now he enters them to imagine his son’s future. He wants Rumi to discover the world through the wind in the leaves, the smell of earth after the rain, the silence of dawn, and the patience of ancient oaks. He wants his first education to be one of wonder: the ability to see the world as something mysterious and infinite, because it is from that sense of Guido remembers. Dear Forest, we are here. Wonder that respect for every form of life is born.
To be a father means transforming a wound into a root, into something fertile. Without meaning to, his father left him a forest. Now Guido wants to leave one to Rumi.
And so, every morning, they enter the woods together.
