BLINDFOLDED
BLINDFOLDED by Antoine De Winter
Blindfolded is part of a broader project the author has been working on for several years: Anthropocene.
Through these images, the author seeks to represent the connection between the subject—the Rhône Glacier—and the reality of the Anthropocene. The glacier, in its most raw and exposed state, becomes a symbol of this historical moment, so profoundly dramatic.
The text by Silvia Lazzaris, dense and objective, shifts the viewer from being a mere observer of the photographic work to becoming an actor within this environmental disaster.
The book’s sequence transforms the experience of viewing beautiful and distilled photographic images into an awareness of the environmental catastrophe of our time.
“Each step toward the glacier reveals its further deterioration, as it crouches under the weight of a hundred sheets” (De Winter).
